MY LIFE IN DPHMI

As I mentioned in my previous article, chemistry is my most favourite subjek during my higher secondary school life and this makes me interested to stdy for pharmacy…..i was quite interested to study something related to medical line and since I was very interested in chemistry and pharmacy is a health profession that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences so I choose to pursue my studies in pharmacy field...
.
I enrolled myself in inti in 2009..since then I was in the family of dphmi…I was very excited to start my life as a pharmacy student…bt my excitement lost during my first organic chemistry class…CCM…..and after a few weeks…I got anthr shock wen ms.Poon entered our class and inform us that our pointer must be 3.8 to pursue our degree…since that day onwards…my life was very2 stressfull…especially during long sems where we need to take 6 subjects occupied with lab reports for certain subjects, qiuzes, tests, assignments, presentations…..haiz…no word to describe how stressful the life would be…this is how my life passed for the past two years as a dphmi student..now I’m in my last sem..

throught this two years of stress ful life…I even had some beautiful moments…first was getting know new frens..my batchmates was 11 of us and all of them r really nice and gud fren of mine…during my second sem my class was combined with the seniors and juniors…this makes us to be more close to each other..
second happy moments during dphmi life is our lab classes…I love my lab classes becox of the experiments…bt not ccm lab classes cox he juz love to deduct marks alwiz!!...most painful lab class is physio lab where our experiments are to do with bloods..we have to prick our finger every week!! Microbio lab..was intresting also where we will view the microbes …thru microscope..pharmaceutical technology lab where we prepare creams, lotions and its more intresting when we use our own SECRET RECEIPE..haha..and last is the pharmaceutical chemistry lab which is really very colourful experiment class becox a lot color changes happen during the experiments..
another happy moment of dphmi life is when I went fro my internship during my previous semester..2 weeks of practical in community pharmacy and two months practical in hospital pharmacy.. During this community and  hospital pharmacy training I gain a lot of usefull knowledge and experience regarding the role of pharmacy assistant in community and hospital setup. In community pharmacy I neva get to learn much becox its duration wass too short which was only 2 weeks…bt still I get to learn most of the pharmacist assistant role in community setup..the best part was the hospital training where I get alot of experiences…I learned to fill prescription and do labelling in both outpatient and inpatient pharmacy..i get the chance to prepare creams and lotions in manufacturing department, I also get the chance to enter the clean room once to prepare eye drops..i was thought the ways to dispens medication to patients and given chance to dispens at emergency department and I also learned about inventory maintenance and Ordering and maintenance of stock level at medical store. Hospital pharmacy training was really intresting and fun..

now this is my last semester and report presentation is anthr “intresting” thng going on in this sem again by mr.ccm…as I knw antacids are used to relieveacid indigestion, upset stomach, sour stomach, and heartburn but in my case antacid is increasing by blood pressure becox I’ve already done 3 experiments n I’m not getting my expected value for the experiment!! I juz hope that the experiment will be succesfull and I will do my best for the viva section…..so guyz…this was all about my life as dphmi student…there was stressfull and also some happy moments throughout this journey..but somehow I loved this life becox pharmacy is my ambition..hope I achieve wat I wanted..and gud luck to u guys too….n ya…pls do leave ur short and sweet comments…~thank you~ :)

DRUG THAT IS RELATED TO ME

Hi dear  frens…..this my secod article which is about drug that is related to me…..well since I’m a scoliosis patient. CALCIUM is my best fren alwiz and forever…any idea of what scoliosis is?? Well Scoliosis is a curving of the spine. These curves are often S- or C-shaped. when I was in form 3, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and doctor advise me to take calcium supplement to prevent osteoporosis osteoporosis and its consequences – weak, brittle bones, loss of bone integrity and stooped posture during older age.

The calcium supplement that I’m using is BLACKMORES BIO CALCIUM!!! The supplement include calcium( from calcium carbonate) and vitamin D. it’s a  white, flat, bevelled edge tablet with a peppermint flavour and the tablet is so damn big and it’s so difficult for me to consume it!! And I really hate the tablet!!

                                                                                                    look...its so BIG!!

This is the benefits of Calcium for a Healthy Spine
In addition to playing an important role in the prevention of osteoporosis (porous bones), which can lead to fractures of the vertebrae, calcium helps to relax the muscles in your back and prevents muscle spasms.

Every cell in your body needs calcium. If you don't consume enough calcium, your body will withdraw it from your bones to keep the amount in your blood stream constant.

Calcium is a major component of bones. Adequate calcium intake is essential in preventing osteoporosis, a disease in which the bones gradually become porous and susceptible to fractures. The spine, hips and wrists are most affected by osteoporosis.

Vitamin D is required for the utilization of calcium. Scoliosis directly involves the development of the spine and bones. Vitamin D works with calcium in your body to help build and maintain strong bones. It can also regulate the immune system and cells, which often break down due to scoliosis.

Besides the benefits of calcium in preventing ostereoporosis, there are also some side effects of taking calcium supplement!

Loss of Appetite

  • Calcium supplements can make you less hungry than usual. With a calcium deficiency, your body will crave foods with the mineral, making you eat more. Once your body is getting the appropriate amount of calcium, it will no longer try to compensate for the loss, decreasing your appetite and possibly slimming and its very very true cause I’m losing most of the time I won have the appetite to eat and I am losing my weigt to the max and luk so thin!!!

Increased Urination

  • Some people experience increased urination when taking calcium supplements and tis is also true…I do visit the washrum very often!!

Dry Mouth

  • Large amounts of calcium can cause dry mouth in some patients. Many patients will also experience increased thirst and I experience it too and I use vaselin as moisturiser for my dry lips…

So my dear friends this is the end of my second article.. please do leave ur sweet comment and hope u all enjoyed it!! tc!

ChEmIsTrY FoR Me

Form 4 was so called as ‘HONEY MOON YEAR’.... BiOlOgY, ChEmIsTrY, PhYsIcS was the new science subjects introduced when we step into the science stream world in form 4…Loaded with 10 subjects including this 3 science subjects and ADD MATHS!!, I still wondering y the hell form 4 was so called “ HONEY MOON YEAR”..it supposed to be called as  “ STRESSFULL YEAR!!”

@
After my elder sister finished her higher secondary, c told me that chemistry was the most interesting subject. She told me about her studies and experiments she did in lab…that when she mixed 1 solution with another it forms beautiful colors and when she add another solution the color disappears and form clear solution… A year afta, I passed my PMR with flying colors and entered the science stream world .

Among this three science subjects, chemistry was the subject I like the most. This was because I scored the highest mark for my first test in my class….haha and  Since then chemistry was my most favourite subject.I love chemistry because of my teacher, Mrs.Poh. She was a very good and experienced teacher. Her teaching skills makes me love chemistry more day by day…Her teaching makes me understand chemistry well. My favourite chapter in form 4 chemistry was chapter 5-chemical bonding. Its about forming the ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Its quite confusing but Mrs.Poh’s teaching makes me understand the concept on how to form the ionic and covalent bondings. At last form 4 came to an end and I was praying that I will get the same chemistry teacher in form 5 and my prayer was answered when Mrs.Poh walked into the class. Through her teaching and guidance I obtained good grade for my chemistry in SPM.

Mrs.Poh alwiz like to remind us on 1 thing that is ‘girls chemistry in university level is not the same as in ur school’.I was not serious with her words till I pursued my studies in diploma In pharmacy. I joined pharmacy course because of I love chemistry but I started to hate chemistry during my first semester because of CCM!..i just managed to pass my organic and physical chemistry and this make me feel so sad. But wen I was in my fifth sem I was so happy when I heard that my lecturer for pharmaceutical chemistry is Ms.grace. I just can’t imagine pharmaceutical chemistry which is full of identification test, assay which need a lot memorization tought by Mr.CCM..Ms.grace teaching was good and interesting.Ms.grace’s teaching skills tought me on how to memorize well and I scored good marks for my pharmaceutical chemistry 1 exam. Ms.grace makes me start  loving chemistry again.
Chemisrty life is really fun especially during lab sessions. Sometimes we can hear someone screaming ‘smoke’! smoke….or….’craccckkkkkkkkkkk’….miss…I just broke the test tube…haha… and I experienced breaking a burrete during pharmaceutical chemistry 1 lab session and had to pay rm 45!!!arrrrrrrggggghhhh… Lab session is really fun but lab report is a big headache.. After all this experiences, I understand wat was chemistry all about…after studying chemistry only I realized that everything around us is related to chemistry. Chemistry is a big part of our everyday life. Chemistry are found in daily life in the foods we eat, the air we breathe, our soap, our emotions and literally every object we can see or touch. Chemistry can be a good and bad thing. Chemistry is good when we make love with it. Chemistry is bad when we make crack with it.
